NBA 2K26 MyCareer Changes That Players Want This Year

Virtual Currency prices are currently out of control. Players should not have to spend $100 just to reach 99 overall. In addition to upgrades, there are costs for animations, jump shots, dunks, signature styles, clothes, and boosts, which add up extremely fast. It is understandable that the game is a business, but paying just to compete is unreasonable. Without spending, players are left looking like a bot or YMCA player and get overpowered in Park and Rec.

2K26 needs to lower VC prices for upgrades, especially for those grinding MyCareer. Playing the game should actually provide enough VC to progress, not make players feel broke.
If VC prices cannot be cut in half, at least scale them better. Implement discounts for upgrading the first build, such as limited-time "half-off" build upgrades. Special sales or deals would incentivize making new builds and increase overall player engagement.
Without changes to VC pricing, most players will avoid MyCareer and head straight to Park.
Max Contracts Should Actually Pay You
In the NBA, stars sign huge contracts, get endorsements, and receive bonus deals. In 2K, contract value means nothing. 2K should reward players with huge VC bonuses for becoming superstars in the league. Averaging 30 points and signing a max contract with the Lakers should result in 5,000 VC per game on top of performance-based rewards.
Scenario Suggested VC Payout
Supermax Contract (Hall of Fame) 4,000 VC per game
Supermax Contract (Rookie) 1,000 VC per game
Full Season Played 400,000 VC per season
MyCareer grinding should be the top way to earn VC in NBA 2K26, surpassing even Park or Stage for dedicated players.
Once a player finishes the story, there is currently no incentive to keep playing MyCareer. Contracts should create ongoing goals and rewards, encouraging long-term engagement.
Exclusive MyCareer Rewards with Real Impact
This refers to the offline MyCareer mode, not the City. Exclusive rewards in MyCareer that have real meaning should be introduced. In previous years, features like the GOAT mask and outfit provided extra rep, prompting players to engage with MyCareer temporarily. However, these were eventually removed.
More exclusive rewards such as gear, outfits, animations, or even stat boosts should be available to those who achieve major MyCareer milestones.
Examples include: Hall of Fame jackets, chains, exclusive shoes with minor boosts (+2 speed, +3 mid-range), and visible indicators of MyCareer legend status—not just Park or season pass drip.
Rewards that carry over to the City and give real incentives for grinding MyCareer will motivate more players to engage with the mode.
More Control Over Story and Choices
Greater player agency in the story is a popular request. Older MyCareer modes allowed for impactful choices: players could get ejected, go to press conferences, and their actions affected endorsements and pay. Recent careers feel predetermined, removing the sense of individual impact.
"Your actions control more of your NBA career. If you go rogue in public, lose your endorsement; do well and be politically correct, gain endorsements. More control over the story creates a more interactive and memorable experience."
Bringing back NBA player voices, decision-based storylines, and consequences for actions—such as public remarks or in-game conduct—would revive the unique and dynamic feel of MyCareer.
These moments often go viral on social media and help make MyCareer more attractive to both new and returning players.
Make MyCareer Co-op
The introduction of co-op MyCareer would allow players to link their individual careers with friends. Imagine being a point guard and teaming up with a friend's center, both competing on the same team throughout the NBA season.
Core Features:
– Play together against AI
– Win championships as a group
– Share badge progress and quest objectives
Benefits:
– Share the grind of badge earning
– Experience an alternate MyPlayer journey
– Casual and comp players alike can enjoy the mode
Linking MyCareers for offline or online co-op would bring a fresh experience, making badge grinding and progression more enjoyable with friends.
Just as the Orange Juice duo did in NBA 2K17, the addition of true co-op would allow for unique stories and collaborative play, with decisions impacting both players' careers.
